Silver Medal for Leyla!

Posted on: 26/03/2019

Year 9 student, Leyla, has just returned from Bulgaria where she attended the Taekwondo Multi European Games.  Leyla came away with a Silver medal which enables her to automatically qualify for the European Chapionships in Latvia. She was the only British Taekwondo athlete to qualify this year, without the need to be selected. She also qualified last year at the same competition, which makes Leyla the only British Athlete to qualify 2 years running. In her category last year, Leyla ranked 67th out of 479 athletes and was the highest British athlete

It is likely that Leyla will represent Great Britain at The World Championships in Uzbekistan in August, the official announcement will be made in mid-May, so here at Blenheim, we are all waiting with bated breath.

Over the coming weekends, Leyla will be competing at a number of competitions throughout Europe: The German Open, The London Championships, The Sofia Open and The Luxembourg Open to name just a few. The Taekwondo calendar is very congested due to the World Championships this year and The Olympics next year (Leyla doesn't qualify for the Youth Olympics yet) so she is very busy.
