Golf Scholarship for Kieran

Posted on: 03/04/2019

Congratulations to golfer Kieran in Year 7 who has just been awarded a Rob Sears Sporting Scholarship as part of the Royal Automobile Club Sporting Talent Programme for 2019 which entitles him to 20 hours of free coaching with their Head Professional who was so impressed with Kieran when they met.

Kieran first started to play golf at the age of 3 after seeing his grandad play.  He has been a junior member of Epsom Golf Club since 2017 and has won many awards since, including the Golden Jubilee Cup and The Junior Open Championship.  He also took part in the Surrey YIGs (Young Improver's Group) Rookie Tour in 2018 and came an impressive joint third in his first tournament.

In December 2018, Kieran was awarded the Partridge Putter by the Junior Committee at Epsom Golf Club for achieving the most points during competitions held in 2018.

This year, Kieran will compete in the Kingston Golf League, The Rookie League and the Surrey Rookie Tour on behalf of his club, where he is part of their Under 14 team.  He currently has a handicap of 29.

Kieran's ambition is to play in the Junior Ryder Cup in Rome in 2022 and we have no doubt, with this amazing catalogue of achievements already, that he will reach this goal.
