Girls’ Under 16 Football Chelsea FC Foundation Schools’ Cup

Posted on: 11/02/2020

After the exit from the National cup, the Chelsea FC Foundation Schools Cup was a welcome distraction.

The girls played four games against Cobham free school, Esher High, Grey Court and Hayes school.

The first game was a close game in terms of score but not football, Blenheim dominated the play and scored 7 minutes into the 12 minute game, with Amelie providing the goal.

The second game was in truth against a stronger opposition but, again, Blenheim dominated running out 2-0 winners with another goal form Amelie and a beautifully worked headed goal from Amie. The third game saw the same performance and result but this time against Grey Court, Amelie scoring again and Becca completing the scoring. The final game required a draw or win to take the trophy back to Blenheim and the girls duly delivered, scoring in the last minute with a well worked goal and cool finish form Becca.

This win means the girls have qualified to play in the Foundation cup in March, against the Chelsea FC development side and the nine best players from the other schools at the tournament, details will follow over half term. Congratulations to Amelie for being awarded Player of the Tournament.

Team: Lara S, Frankie C, Kasey B, Leia S, Gabz K, Amelie D, Hannah P, Becca T, Mariella K, Bronte W, Amie B.
