Blenheim Milestones

Posted on: 27/04/2019

There have been a couple of significant staff milestones reached at Blenheim recently.

Congratulations to Mrs Burton, Technician, who has dedicated 20 years of service to Blenheim, having commenced working at Blenheim in April 1999.

Mrs Burton, together with Mrs Smith (former Assistant Headteacher), built the foundations for the Textiles department which Blenheim enjoys today. Mrs Burton has a passion for all things textiles, craft, vintage, baking, Strictly Come Dancing, sausage dogs and, of course, her family.

Mrs Burton is always prepared to go that extra mile, using her skills and experience supporting teachers with moderating coursework and supporting students from Years 7-13. More recently, Mrs Burton has chosen to complete the new GCSE Art Textiles GCSE alongside students to further understand the course requirements, student perspective and how to best guide those students taking Textiles.

Our congratulations also extend to another member of Blenheim staff; Mr Nicholls, Technology Technician, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday.

Mr Nicholls has enjoyed a full and varied career, having dedicated the past 17 years to Blenheim.  Mr Nicholls has a strong affinity with Scotland and on special occasions, Mr Nicholls can be seen sporting full traditional Scottish attire including kilt and sporran!

Mr Nicholls continues to provide a crucial service to the Technology Department but also to work with a number of students on an individual basis. His wealth of knowledge, approachable manner and dedication means that he is a popular and much respected member of staff.

On Tuesday 23rd April, Mrs Burton and Mr Nicholls received a speech from Mr Everest, a present from the school presented in front of the entire staff by Mr Bodell, and, due to 20 years’ service, Mrs Burton will have a classroom named after her.
