Chelsea FC Foundation Update

Posted on: 12/09/2021

The first week back saw the Chelsea FC Foundation girls’ football academy back in action as the girls’ started their full time training programme, alongside extensive A level and BTEC provision.

The girls, most of whom have been recruited externally, have settled in extremely well, with coaching staff reporting a positive start for our academy students both inside and outside of lessons.

The focus has been preparing for our first National Football Youth League game next week away to Arsenal. The academy has grown year on year; we now have 30 students. In 2018 we had 3! The growth has meant that this season the academy will be entering 2 teams into the highest leagues outside of the professional academy leagues.

Wednesday is typically game day for the academy and the girls took part in an in house friendly this week. On what was a very hot and sunny day, the effort and commitment were outstanding with some accomplished performances from both Year 12 and 13 students alike. The yellows took the spoils after an entertaining game but the focus was on development, attitude and commitment as we prepare to hopefully challenge for the title this season.
