Celebrating Safer Internet Day

Posted on: 07/02/2022

ImageBlenheim are supporting Safer Internet Day to create a safer and better internet for children and young people with students taking part in a series of Tutor time activities themed around this year's theme ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’.

This year Blenheim will be working with students and supporting Safer Internet Day by providing:

  • Interactive presentations to each year group
  • Online Safety workshop to all year 7 students in their next iPads for Learning lesson,
  • Cake sale for year 7 and year 8 on Tuesday 8th February.

The money raised in both cake sales will be for Childline, who provide a free, confidential service to anyone under 19 in the UK, to contribute towards the support they offer young people. Cake stalls will be run by year 7 students, break 1 and year 8 students, break 2.

A big thank you to all the year 7 and 8 students who have volunteered to help on the day.

The aim of Safer Internet Day (SID) is to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. Safer Internet Day (SID) activities are focused on ensuring that young people's voices are at the heart of the campaign to reach as many young people in the UK as possible.

From gaming and chat, to streaming and video, young people are shaping the interactive entertainment spaces they are a part of. Safer Internet Day 2022 celebrates young people’s role in creating a safer internet, whether that is while gaming and creating content, or interacting with their friends and peers.

Safer Internet Day challenges everyone to play their part in fostering supportive relationships and respectful communities online. From discussing the ways the internet can be used to communicate, to creating positive change in online groups when bullying behaviours arise, the day empowers young people to be at the heart of creating a better internet.
