BLENHEIM HIGH SCHOOL 6 - 3 SURBITON HIGH SCHOOL

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - AMELIE

Blenheim Girls' Under 18 Football team travelled to Dorking to face Surbiton at the home of Surrey FA in the Surrey Schools FA Cup final. This, the day after, most of the girls represented Chelsea FC Blenheim in the National Football Youth League.

It was a poor start for Blenheim as Surbiton imposed their physicality and direct football on the game. It was Surbiton who opened the scoring after 12 minutes and within 10 minutes the score was 3-0 to Surbiton. A hill to climb, but if anyone could, it’s this team.

Crucially before half time some quick thinking from Amelie sparked the comeback. A quick free kick released Dulcie who lobbed the oncoming goalkeeper and gave the team a lifeline at half time.

Half time was crucial, and the girls were reminded that it was their game to win, and that they did. Within three minutes of the second half starting, Blenheim were level, with goals from Kalena and Amelie, both from corners. From this point on the game was never in doubt, Blenheim imposed their style of football on the game and Surbiton were struggling to get a foothold in the game. Another goal from Amelie and two from Megan completed the scoring and brought home Blenheim’s fifth Surrey title.
