Epsom and Ewell Dance Festival

Posted on: 21/06/2022

On Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 June Blenheim's Key Stage 4 & 5 competition team, Blenheim Dance Company, performed in the Epsom and Ewell Dance Festival at the Epsom Playhouse. This event comprises of Primary and Secondary schools in the local area choreographing and performing routines to fit a chosen theme. This year’s theme was ‘Nature’.

Blenheim is one of two Secondary schools invited to attend and this event was a wonderful way to finish off the academic year. It is a particularly supportive environment where Primary school students are inspired by older Secondary school students.

After seeing Blenheim's choreography piece during the rehearsal on Monday 20 June, the festival organiser asked if Blenheim could open the show. The organiser was so impressed with Blenheim's routine that they thought it would be a spectacular way to start the festival. Well done girls.

Blenheim students were outstanding on both evenings; dancing beautifully and powerfully, 'wowing' the audience with a daring lift. Their behaviour was exemplary and they were excellent role models to younger students.

This team have worked very hard this academic year. The progress they have made since September has been phenomenal and we are looking forward to many more performance opportunities next academic year. For the Year 13 dancers this was their last Blenheim performance and although emotional, it was an incredible show to finish their dance journey at Blenheim.
