Years 7 & 8 Girls Football National Cup Match

Posted on: 03/11/2022

JAMES ALLEN'S GIRLS' SCHOOL 2 - 3 BLENHEIM HIGH SCHOOL

The year 7 and 8 girls had their second round National Cup match against James Allen’s Girls’ School on Tuesday. Thankfully it rained for the entire journey there which meant the girls had brilliantly blue sky for their entire match.

Blenheim started positively and put JAGS under pressure immediately but couldn’t quite capitalise on the opportunity, which allowed the opposition to settle. Play was very even for most of the first half. Evie managed to break the deadlock with a clinical goal in the latter stages of the first half but JAGS quickly scored to level the game.

The second half started with the momentum favouring the opposition who scored quickly after some unfortunate miscommunication between Blenheim’s defensive line. Evie B managed to settle the team again and as such Blenheim were rewarded with an equaliser from Abi, assisted by Leah who proved to be one of the playmakers of this match.

The match was now level again with two goals each and was drawing to a close. The opposition had even started bringing on fresh players in anticipation of extra time but were thwarted in the final minutes by Olivia who scored a beautifully Kelly-esque goal to secure the win for Blenheim. Well done girls.

Blenheim’s U13 team will now progress to the third round of the National Cup and will face Bullers Wood School for Girls.
