Year 9 Netball Match

ESHER HIGH SCHOOL 6 - 1 BLENHEIM HIGH SCHOOL

ST ANDREW'S 8 - 3 BLENHEIM HIGH SCHOOL

The year 9 netball team played two outstanding games of Netball at Esher High School on Wednesday.

The team gave their best performance so far, despite the cold and wind. Aoife and Holly responded exceptionally to feedback by defending the ball consistently on court, and Bella, Florence and Melissa all read the ‘play’ extremely well throughout the games.

The first game against Esher was evenly matched sitting at 2 – 1 to Esher at the end of the first half. Blenheim’s passing was fluid and the movement was beautifully controlled which gave lots of options up the court. Unfortunately, in the second half, Esher pulled away scoring another 4 goals and Blenheim were unable to reciprocate in the windy conditions. The final score was 6-1 to Esher with Aoife receiving player of the match.

The second match saw a slightly stronger competition in St. Andrew's however this was not a problem for Blenheim in the first half. The girls defended exceptionally from attack through to defence and held St.

Andrew's off for the first 5 minutes whilst also managing to score 2 goals. St. Andrew's then found their ‘flow’ and pulled a few goals back winning the half 3-2. The consistency from St. Andrew's continued throughout the second half and their shooters managed to score 8 to Blenheim’s 3. The player of the match was Melissa.

I couldn’t be prouder of how the girls performed in these matches. They showed resilience and a really strong cohesion as a squad and can only move upwards from this performance. Well done girls.
