Year 12 & 13 Dance Trip

Posted on: 14/12/2022

As part of the BTEC Dance course, Year 12 and 13 students study many different practitioners; one of which is British choreographer Matthew Bourne. On Thursday 8th December Dance students travelled up to central London in the freezing cold to Sadlers Wells Theatre to watch Matthew Bourne's 'Sleeping Beauty'. After battling a very busy Northern line during rush hour, the students were very pleased to arrive at the theatre and take their seats. The performance was spectacular and combined beautiful storytelling through dance with elaborate set design and costume. It is a slightly different version of the traditional Sleeping Beauty story and we saw Matthew Bourne himself in the theatre foyer afterwards. On the return journey home, students were keen to discuss what they had seen, sharing their opinions and analysis of the choreography. Lily in Year 12 sent Matthew Bourne a message on Instagram asking about a prop which was used and she received a reply! Despite the very late evening, a truly amazing experience which was enjoyed by all. Looking forward to the next trip.
