Blenheim High School Admissions Policy Consultation 2020

In accordance with the School Admission Code, Blenheim High School is consulting on the proposed admission arrangements for September 2020 entry.  The proposed changes are as follows: -

Main School

  • Category 4 – to remove the stipulation that members of staff seeking a place for their child must have been employed by Blenheim High School for a minimum of two years
    • Rationale: The Headteacher and Governors would like to offer the children of all members of staff a place at the school, regardless of their length of employment
  • To remove categories 5 and 6 (division between wards) and allocate places purely on distance from the main school gate
    • Rationale: Feedback indicates that the current policy is confusing, leaving parents/carers unsure as to whether their child would be likely to obtain a place at the school.  In addition, Blenheim High School’s Admission Policy would be more in line with other schools in Surrey, simplifying the Local Authority co-ordinated new round admissions procedure
  • Proximity/Distance criteria moved to category 5 and further clarification inserted for parents with shared custody of a child
    • Rationale: It was felt that further clarification was required in the case of parents who do not receive Child Benefit

Sixth Form

  • Layout of Admissions Policy in line with the main school Admissions Policy
    • Rationale: for consistency
