What is exam contingency day?

“The designation of a 'contingency day' within the common examination timetable is in the event of national or local disruption to examinations. It is part of the awarding bodies' standard contingency planning for examinations. Students should remain in the country until then so that they can be available to take any exams affected in the event of such a disaster occurring within the exam season, however unlikely this may be.

Collection of Exam Certificates

Results certificates for the summer 2024 GCSE’s, BTEC Level 1/2, BTEC Level 3 & A Levels will be available for collection on Thursday 19th December 2024 from the main reception. Certificates are usually required as evidence of qualifications achieved.

The allocated times to collect certificates are presented below. Upon arrival students will be asked to complete a short survey; this will take no longer than 5 minutes.

GCSE and L2 BTEC/NCFE certificates:

  • 9.30am to 10.30am
  • 11.30am to 12.30pm

A Level and L3 BTEC Certificates:

  • 2pm to 3pm

Please note, certificates can only be collected by students and signed for in person and they should bring a form of photo ID (Zip card, Oyster card, college ID, driving license) as proof of identity.

If certificates are not collected, they will be retained at Blenheim High School under secure conditions for a period of twelve months from the date of issue. After that date, any certificates that are unclaimed will be destroyed. If candidates lose or do not claim their certificates, they will have to contact the relevant awarding body directly to request a certified statement of results. This will cost approximately £45.00 per certificate.

Please check certificates carefully upon receipt. If there are any errors contact the school via email at ciesco@blenheim.surrey.sch.uk. In this case, the certificate will be returned to the appropriate awarding body for correction at no cost.
