On Tuesday 10th October, Rob Henderson, former Ireland and British & Irish Lions rugby player, launched Blenheim’s newly refurbished Enhanced Learning Centre (ELC) at Blenheim. The ELC is where the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Department is based. In the ELC,SEND interventions are delivered to help meet our students’ needs. The renovations involved joining two rooms together to produce a brighter and more practical environment for these interventions to take place. There are now state-of-the-art glass pods for individual interventions and therapies.

Sarah , a Year 12 student, said: “The ELC is a calm, safe and comfortable place for me to work and get the support I need. I find the ELC Team very helpful and caring. These new facilities add to Blenheim's already great SEND support.”

Wooden Spoon the children’s charity of rugby, is the charity that has generously donated the necessary funds. They are a grant-making charity who fund life-changing projects across the UK &Ireland whilst they have a national footprint, local volunteers raise the most significant part of their income. They aim to spend every penny volunteers raise in their local communities.

Mr Bodell, Headteacher, said: “This is a very special day for our students and hard-working SEND team and we are all grateful to Wooden Spoon for supporting our vision. Together we have created a facility that will serve the school’s SEND students for years to come.”
