BBC Bitesize Roadshow

Posted on: 11/01/2024

Last week, the BBC Bitesize Roadshow tour visited Blenheim. Students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11

experienced this career dedicated event. Throughout the presentation a BBC production crew

were controlling the sound, video feeds and multimedia displays.

A BBC Bitesize presenter interviewed the 3 guest speakers. Each speaker gave an account of their

individual journey through secondary education and how they got into their current career.

The career details for each of the guest speakers were:

  • Actor/Dancer/Singer with current roles in television and West End Theatre productions.
  • An apprentice producer for BBC Radio Surrey.
  • An apprentice from McLaren Applied – a subsidiary technology company linked to the McLaren Formula 1 team.

The BBC presenter gave students the opportunity to ask questions directly to the guest speakers.

This was done with the aid of ‘Mike’ the rugby ball microphone. ‘Mike’ was passed around the hall

from student to student with some excellent questions asked. The show finished with a video

montage of a wide variety of careers from numerous young people across the UK.

This was a fantastic careers experience for the students that generated a lot of positive

comments throughout the day.
