Reporting and Assessment

Year 10 and 11 – a half termly report presenting individual grades from 1 to 5 linked to Attitude to Learning, the most recent Key Assessment grade, End of Year Target and a progress score for each subject is reported.

Year 12 and 13 - a half termly report presenting individual grades from 1 to 5 linked to Attitude to Learning, the most recent Key Assessment grade, End of Year 13 target grade and personal ‘next steps’ advice.

How Parents Can Support Progress

Attendance

Every child should be aiming for attendance of over 95%. If you need support with attendance, we encourage you to speak with your child’s Head of Year. However, you may also find the website for Surrey County Council useful. We would also advise:

  • Read all school communications.
  • Attend Parents’ evenings and relevant tutoring/information sessions.
  • Encourage and show interest; discuss their day with them.
  • Know the name of your child’s class or Form Tutor and Head of year.
  • Let the school know the reason(s) for any absence a likely return date, on the first day of the absence and update the school daily.
  • Make medical/dental appointments out of school time, whenever possible.
  • Do not take holidays during term time.

Progress Scores and Homework

  • Much of the school work at Blenheim takes place using Showbie.
  • We have a knowledge engaged curriculum at Blenheim: to this end, every subject uses Showbie to help students recall and retain key information. You could support your child by quizzing or testing them on areas of the curriculum they are studying.
  • For each subject, you will be able to see which unit/topic is being taught each half term, and the rationale for why the respective subject curriculum is sequenced in the way that it is, in terms of guiding students through the five-year journey of the subject’s curriculum.
  • Check your child understands their homework and that it has been completed.
  • If you need guidance with a specific subject, remember you can contact your child’s teacher direct via the Staff Contact Page.

Attitude to Learning

There can be many reasons why behaviour may be a concern, and in light of this report, we would encourage you to discuss these concerns further with specific teachers. However, it may be useful to also know the following:

Life Skills and Wellbeing Curriculum Intent

Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE) education is delivered through Life Skills and Wellbeing (LSW) lessons at Blenheim. LSW is subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, as well as preparing for life and work in modern Britain.

At Blenheim, LSW is a planned programme through which young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skill to manage their lives now and in the future. It helps to safeguard students, support their spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development. LSW promotes thoughtful and articulate discussion on relevant issues in their lives. No formal assessments are carried out for LSW, however students will receive feedback on their attitude to learning each reporting period.

Unifrog

Students will receive structured Careers and Unifrog (a dedicated web-based careers platform) lessons as part of the LSW programme. Careers in Context also forms part of the broader curriculum experience at Blenheim. Each subject will provide two Careers in Context moments across the year to help raise student knowledge and aspirations for the variety of career paths available to them and how these link to the curriculum.
