Key Stage 4 Options for September 2021
In Key Stage 4 students are able to decide which subjects they will study at GCSE level in addition to English, Mathematics, Science, Core PE and PSHCE.
The options process for 2021 is outlined below. Year 8 students have received inputs via virtual assemblies covering how to make option choices and the options process itself.
By Friday 5th February all Year 8 students will have received their 2021 Options Brochure via Showbie presenting the subjects available to them for Year 9 to Year 11. The options brochure can also be downloaded using the link below.
Please look through this options resource with your son/daughter to have an understanding of the Key Stage 4 curriculum and all the options available to students in Year 9.
A personalised option form will be printed and posted home for all Year 8 students, with our recommendation for the Key Stage 4 ‘pathway’ we feel is most suitable for them to follow. This will be posted home on Friday 26th February. Please reflect on the suggested pathway and option subjects available for September 2021.
In order to provide further guidance on the options process, you are warmly invited to the Virtual KS4 Options’ Evening, to be held on Thursday 4th March 2021. From 4 pm there will be a pre-recorded presentation available on Showbie from Mr Everest, covering the KS4 Curriculum and options process.
Following this presentation, on Showbie, there will be an opportunity to download and view subject videos from staff related to the courses on offer in September 2021. The Showbie code to access the resources is CACR4. Subject specific videos will provide further information including a range of assessment details, syllabus content and course information to help you get the ‘flavour’ of each subject to support the decision making process.
Following the options evening there will be a “virtual” Year 8 Parents’ evening on Wednesday 10th March. Please use this evening to start consult with your child’s teachers about their progress, and suitability for particular option courses in Year 9. There will be more information regarding the booking process and accessing the event to follow.
