Virtual Author Visit for Year 7

Posted on: 07/12/2020

A proud moment for a group of Year 7 students as they represented Blenheim virtually meeting Robin Stevens, author of the much loved, ‘Murder Most Unladylike’ series.

Arranged by Blenheim Book Club, the renowned author expressed her love of writing and the importance of reading.

This unique opportunity was coupled with light refreshments and a complimentary Blenheim Book Bag.

Robin Stevens has been the recipient of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the Young Fiction Category, was shortlisted for a Specsavers National Book Award and is a #1 children’s paperback bestseller.

Credited with sparking the middle-grade mystery trend, the series brilliantly combines the Golden Age of crime with the nostalgic boarding school story: think Agatha Christie meets Enid Blyton.

Students were provided with a live presentation, giving them a sneak preview of books, characters and writing processes. One Year 7 student commented that, “She is one of my favourite authors; it was an amazing experience.”

Year 7 students were also treated to a behind-the-scenes look at Robin’s research trip to Egypt and given exclusive access to a private reading of her new novel, ‘Death Sets Sail’. One student has already added the new novel to their Christmas list! It was lovely to see the students’ enthusiasm during the Q & A interactive session as Robin answered students’ questions. The students also picked up some ‘top tips’ on how to write their own mystery novel!

Well done to our Year 7 students who represented themselves and the school in exemplary fashion.
