National Education Conference

Posted on: 12/09/2025

Last Saturday, Blenheim High School was represented at ResearchEd 2025, the national education conference that brings together some of the most influential voices, leading academics, and frontline practitioners to share the latest evidence-informed approaches to teaching and school leadership. Since its inception in 2013, ResearchEd has grown into a global movement with events across the world, and the annual national conference is regarded as one of the most respected and forward-thinking gatherings in the education calendar.

Mrs Fleck and Mr Jones, delivered a session focused on the importance of staff wellbeing. Their talk made a powerful case that wellbeing should never be seen as an “add-on” or token gesture, but something built into the very fabric of school life.

Their session explored:

  • The challenges of workload management in busy school environments
  • The value of supportive and visible leadership
  • The importance of work–life balance in retaining high-quality staff
  • The direct link between staff mental health, wellbeing, and student outcomes

With well over 1000 delegates in attendance, their presentation drew strong engagement and excellent feedback. Attendees commented on how practical, authentic, and honest their approach was, highlighting that Blenheim’s message resonated with schools facing similar challenges nationwide.

Importantly, Mrs Fleck and Mr Jones emphasised that Blenheim’s commitment to wellbeing is not only aspirational but has been recognised on the national stage. This term, Blenheim is aiming to achieve the prestigious Carnegie Centre of Excellence Award for Mental Health and Wellbeing in Schools - Gold standard a benchmark that demonstrates genuine and sustained impact in supporting staff and students and their wellbeing. The message was clear; when staff wellbeing is genuinely prioritised and supported, the benefits are felt across the whole school community — teachers are more motivated, students learn better, and the school culture becomes more positive and sustainable.

Their contribution underlined how Blenheim continues to be at the forefront of educational thinking, sharing best practice on a respected national platform and showcasing the values that make our community unique.
