Arete Non Sports Day 2026

Posted on: 10/02/2026

Arête Introduction
Blenheim High School proudly took part in the Arête Partnership’s Non-Sports Day, hosted at Gordon’s School and attended by students from the five Arête schools across the partnership. The morning offered students the opportunity to take part in a range of academic and enrichment activities, celebrating strengths beyond the sports field.
Students selected to take part in a wide-ranging programme of activities including esports, chess, business studies, Bake Off, a computing challenge (Python coding) and an astronomy masterclass.

Strong Performances Across the Board
Blenheim students demonstrated creativity, focus and teamwork in every activity:

Bake Off
In Bake Off, our students impressed with their beautifully crafted Viennese Whirls, showcasing precision and flair under pressure. We were thrilled that our Key Stage 4 team won their category, a well-deserved recognition of their baking skill and attention to detail.

E-Sports
Our teams in both the E-Sports tournament and the Python coding challenge produced great performances, achieving second place in both events. Their strategic thinking, communication and problem-solving were praised by staff across
the partnership.

Chess
The Chess team held their own in a competitive tournament and secured a strong third place finish. Their calm concentration and tactical awareness shone through in every match. One of our Year 7 students won all his four games.

Business
In the Business challenge, our team presented a professional and inventive pitch for ‘eVision’ glasses, a wearable device designed to support revision by projecting notes into the user’s field of vision. Judges were impressed by their concept
and confident delivery, though the top prize went to a team who pitched a swim cap with integrated earphones.

Astronomy
Students who attended the astronomy masterclass were treated to an engaging and inspiring session exploring the physics of space. Though not competitive, it offered a fascinating insight into astronomy and encouraged students to think beyond the classroom curriculum.

“I was so proud of our Viennese Whirls. We practised a lot and it was amazing to win.”

“Our Python code worked really well. It felt great to come second with such strong competition.”

An Inspiring and Inclusive Morning
The Arête Non-Sports Day provided an exciting and inclusive platform to celebrate diverse student strengths and deepen collaborative ties between schools. Blenheim students approached the morning with enthusiasm, creativity and a strong sense of team spirit, making us exceptionally proud. A huge thank you to Mrs Lynahping and Mrs Mencks-Meunier for accompanying the students and supporting the event throughout the morning.

We look forward to further enrichment opportunities with our Arête partners as the year continues.
