Tottenham Hotspur 2 v 3 Chelsea FC Blenheim

After last week’s victory versus Arsenal, gameday 2 in the National Football Youth League saw Chelsea FC Blenheim travel back to North London to play Tottenham Hotspur.

Blenheim started cautiously which created a scrappy first 10 minutes against a much improved Spurs side. It was Tottenham who took the lead after 10 minutes with a finish from close range. It didn’t take Chelsea FC Blenheim long to reply, with some impressive work and an outstanding finish in the top corner from Kori, making it 1-1. The game continued to be scrappy but it was Chelsea FC Blenheim who always looked the most likely to score, and after 26 minutes it was another debut goal as Amelia ran through on goal and poked the ball past the onrushing Spurs goalkeeper, 2-1 and a lead to take into the second half.

Chelsea FC Blenheim started the second half strongly, but against the run of play it was Tottenham who struck scoring a long flighted free kick, that on another day may well not have been given at all. The game then became Chelsea FC Blenheim attacking and Tottenham defending. Chelsea FC Blenheim created chances and had the ball in the back of the net after 70 minutes, only for it to be ruled out for a handball in the buildup.

After 90 minutes of football, Chelsea FC Blenheim got the goal they needed, after some good play from Saskia and Amelia on the edge of the area, Arsenal fan Megan guided the ball into the top corner of the Tottenham net, 3-2 and 3 welcome points, maintaining the girls’ 100% start to the season.
