Blenheim v Orleans Park

This week Blenheim welcomed Orleans Park School to play the third round of the Surrey Cup.

Orleans had a strong team with multiple talented players who pressured the Blenheim defence

early on and dominated the left wing. Despite sustained pressure, Diana and Teya managed to

block their shots for the first 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, that level of pressure was bound to result in a goal, the first of which came from a

well worked team play by Orleans. The success motivated their team and caused them to score 3

more in quick succession.

The half time whistle went and Blenheim came in for a much needed team talk. The focus was to

be and to pressure the goalkeeper.

With a new formation and a renewed sense of motivation, Blenheim started strongly in the

second half. Their structure of 3-3-2 worked well and the team managed to stretch Orleans and

apply some pressure to their goalkeeper. Orleans realised the tactics had changed and swapped

their last line of defence.

Although Blenheim played far better in the 2nd half, Orleans scored three more. Blenheim hit the

post three times but unfortunately could not score.

The team played to their best ability and kept their effort level high throughout the game which is

a real testament to their resilience and team spirit.
