Player of the Match: Jake

The year 10 and 11 Basketball team had their first match of the New Year against Three Rivers

Academy. The team were in high spirits as they knew it was going to be a competitive match.

Three Rivers won the tip but Alfie's speed and anticipation of the play turned this over to give

Blenheim possession with great passing in and around the key. Three Rivers defended excellently

which prevented Blenheim from shooting and scoring and took advantage of a fast break to put

the first points on the score board. Jake showed excellent dribbling to control the pace of the

match and scored some superb baskets which gave Blenheim a lift. The intensity remained high

with Kyren, Jonny, Baron and Jeffery all scoring fantastic baskets. Miles showed great agility to get

around the defence and into space in key as well as taking opportunities to shoot. Ellis used

powerful cross court passes to Rian and Alfie which helped to outwit the defence. The pace and

urgency did decrease in the third and fourth quarters and with reduced focus left gaps in the

defence which Three Rivers took advantage of to win the match.
