Posted on: 03/05/2026The Mathematics Department is proud to celebrate the successes of Olly who recently participated in the
Maclaurin Olympiad, and both Ben and Alvin who took part in the Pink Kangaroo Follow-up Round. These
Mathematical events are a result of students’ success for previous Mathematical challenges.
The Maclaurin Olympiad challenges students to engage with demanding Mathematical problems that
require persistence, creativity and independent thinking. Olly approached the competition with enthusiasm
and determination, demonstrating a high level of commitment; many congratulations for achieving a
Distinction in the Olympiad!
In the Pink Kangaroo Challenge, Ben and Alvin tackled engaging and thought-provoking questions designed
to apply their Mathematical skills and knowledge in unfamiliar contexts. Ben achieved Gold; a significant
achievement.
Ms Laidler, Deputy Headteacher – Maths Lead commented: It is lovely to see our students going beyond the
National Mathematics Challenge and progressing to further stages. Every student who participates should be
proud of their achievements but these 3 students should be especially commended. Well done to you all.
We commend Ben, Olly and Alvin on their hard work, positive attitude and effort which reflects a strong
culture of achievement and aspiration in Mathematics across Blenheim.
