STEM Car Club at Goodwood!

Posted on: 05/06/2026

Throughout the academic year, students in the STEM car club have undertaken significant

engineering work to prepare their vehicles for competition. This included the complete

remanufacture of the side panels, which were rebuilt in aluminium to comply with updated racing

regulations. Students also carried out extensive electronics testing, and one of the cars benefited

from the installation of a new variable speed controller to enhance performance and reliability.

Particular recognition is owed to Jasper in Yr12, who volunteered a substantial amount of his time

to support club members. His guidance and commitment were instrumental in ensuring both

cars were fully prepared for the Greenpower race at Goodwood Motor Circuit.

At Goodwood, two student teams successfully drove the cars and executed pit stops, including

the mandatory driver changes.

Car 1 was driven by Josh V, Max, and William.

Car 2 was driven by Slav, Josh G, and Josh F.

Both vehicles performed strongly, and for the first time since the school began competing in

Greenpower events, each car completed the full 90‑minute duration in both race heats.

About Greenpower

The Greenpower Education Trust is a UK‑based charity dedicated to inspiring young people to

engage with science and engineering. It challenges participants to design, build, and race an

electric car, using the excitement of motorsport to foster enthusiasm and excellence in STEM

subjects. Through hands‑on experience and competitive racing, Greenpower encourages

students to develop practical skills, creativity, and teamwork.
