Lucas Wins Prestigious NCFE 'Against All Odds' Award
Posted on: 25/06/2026Congratulations to Year 11 student Lucas, who has been recognised nationally with the NCFE Against All Odds Award. The award celebrates learners who have overcome significant personal challenges while demonstrating outstanding commitment and achievement in their education.
Lucas, who studies the Level 1/2 Technical Award in Health and Fitness, received the award in recognition of his exceptional resilience, determination and work ethic. Born with Spina Bifida and congenital hydrocephalus, Lucas has faced complex medical challenges throughout his life, including multiple surgeries and periods of extended absence from school. Despite these obstacles, he has remained committed to his studies, worked tirelessly to catch up on missed learning, and is on track to achieve excellent results.
Away from the classroom, Lucas is an accomplished wheelchair racer, having represented Team England at the School Games and competing with the ambition of one day reaching the Paralympics. His dedication to both sport and education reflects the same perseverance and positive mindset that earned him this national recognition.
Head of Health and Fitness, Mrs Whitear, who nominated Lucas for the award, praised his unwavering determination, saying he continually embraces every challenge with a positive attitude and inspires everyone around him through his resilience and commitment.
Everyone at Blenheim High School is incredibly proud of Lucas and this well-deserved achievement. He is a true inspiration to our school community and a fantastic example of what can be achieved through perseverance, courage and a growth mindset.
