NSSSA Year 9 Girls' Netball Tournament

Posted on: 17/09/2026

Congratulations to the year 9 Netball team who played with such energy and dedication across all matches in the first NSSSA netball tournament of the season. It was great to see the team back playing and enjoying competitive matches showing real strength and potential in all thirds of the court. The girls did rotate round positions and were tremendously supportive of each other.

Blenheim 2 - Hinchley Wood 10

The match was intense from the first whistle and Blenheim started well by keeping possession in the centre court and a few longer passes were successful at moving the ball into our attacking third. Both Lyra and Chloe worked hard in and around the D to gain better shooting positions scored successfully. Khushi and Tess worked hard in defence to intercept balls and pass onto the attacking players. As the match progressed the technique waivered with some seemingly impossible passes being made from contorted bodies. After a quick team talk to slow down, space out and think about passing the second half was more promising. Kate helped to control the pace of the game and slowed things down to Blenheim's advantage. Rhiannon made some excellently timed passes out to the wings and Daniella helped to create space. However, the opposition was able.

Blenheim 6 - Cobham Free School 11

The focus for this match was to keep things simple. Slow down, spread out and select most appropriate passes. The year 9 team showed great improvement in the number of successful passes and shots and throughout the match the scores were even and the result felt like it could go either way. With some successful interceptions from the opposition they were able to find ways around Blenheim and scored 4 consecutive goals which accelerated the score line.

Blenheim 7 - Three Rivers 1

Blenheim's resilience came through during match 3 by controlling the pace of the game and using the space well. Taking the three seconds to match better passing and moving decisions which added to the success rate of passing and moving. A great show from all players with team work really coming into its own in all areas of the court. Well done.

Blenheim 6 - Esher 7

Another very close game with excellent determination from all players. The Blenheim team made some excellent decisions on court and were able to keep the score line high and even for the majority of the match until the last 30 seconds where the opposition scored just before the whistle. Regardless of the score line, Blenheim's team spirit shined through and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the tournament.
