Blenheim High School

Fortismore School

In an end to end and entertaining encounter it was Blenheim who marched into the third round of the National Cup in the last minute of a great game.

Blenheim started strongly with Ava scoring after one minute but within four minutes the score was level as Fortismore showed they were no pushovers. Florence scored a great team goal to take Blenheim into the lead, 2-1 at half time.

The match was evenly balanced on performance and Fortismore took the lead for the first time with a quickfire 2 goals in the first 3 minutes of the second half. Florence, again on the score sheet, pulled Blenheim level with 15 minutes left to play. Fortismore retook the lead from a corner before Holly returned the scores to level with a great finish around a strong goalkeeper.

With 2 minutes remaining Captain, Hannah rose the highest from a great corner to give Blenheim the lead again, 5-4. From kick off a long ball caused confusion and the clearance fell to Fortismore who leveled with 2 minutes left to play.

With the game looking like it was heading to extra time, Zoe produced a moment of magic and guided a shot from 20 yards out into the top corner of the net.

A great advert for school football as the girls, progress into the next round of the National Cup.
