Future Frontiers Trip

Posted on: 04/05/2022

This Wednesday, twenty Year 10 students travelled up to offices next to The Shard in London Bridge to receive tailored careers coaching under the Future Frontiers programme. The programme consists of trips to corporate offices once a week for a month, to meet with industry experts from a diverse range of fields giving our students a grasp on what potential career or workplace they would like to enter as they approach their final GCSE year.

The session began with introductions to their careers coaches, industry professionals that have given their time to work with our students across the course of the programme. Students then started their one on one sessions with their mentors and took the time to get to know them, as well as understanding how their personal interests may impact what career they might like to research.

Some students remained in a large conference space (pictured), while others went to smaller workspaces and meeting rooms to begin work with their career coaches. Over the next three Wednesdays we will return to the offices and uncover more detail on what career individual students may wish to learn more about. Then as they approach Year 11 and their GCSE exams, the career coaches will remain in touch with our students via the Future Frontiers programme, giving them that extra push and motivation as they study for their final exams.

Students were instantly enthused by the session and greatly enjoyed witnessing a workplace setting that they may well find themselves in one day in the near future. The careers discussions ranged from costume designer, civil engineering or even working for a record label. The students represented the school in an exemplary fashion and we are very much looking forward to the coming weeks.
