Under 14 Girls Football Surbiton High School vs. Blenheim

Posted on: 08/06/2022

In Blenheim's seventh County Final, the Under 14 Girls travelled to Dorking Wanderers modern facility to take on newly crowned ESFA National Champions, Surbiton High School.

It was a back to the wall performance from the outset with Surbiton dominating the opening exchanges, scoring their first goal after five minutes. This could have been the start of a 'long day at the office', but to their credit #teamblenheim dug deep and kept chances on goal to a minimum. The counter attack was a threat but chances to break were sparse. Blenheim contested the game well and went into half time with hope that they could start to create chances in the second half.

Whilst the second half was more even, Surbiton were ultimately clinical, and sometimes lucky, in front of goal and scored five second half goals to take the county title. By no means a poor performance from the Blenheim side however, on the day, Surbiton were too strong.

A massive well done to all of the girls; reaching a County final is a great achievement and one to be proud of. Blenheim also reached the last 16 of the National Cup for the second consecutive year.
