BARKING ABBEY FOOTBALL 3 v 0 CHELSEA FC BLENHEIM

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: AVA

Chelsea FC Blenheim travelled across the Dartford Crossing to Barking to play an always strong Barking Abbey in the NFYL Plate.

In blustery conditions, the game started brightly with Chelsea FC Blenheim moving the ball well, only to see the play broken down in the final third by a well organised and powerful Barking Abbey defence. Both teams struggled to test the goalkeepers for most of the first half, but in a devastating 10-minute spell Barking Abbey scored 3 without reply, to give the Chelsea FC Blenheim side a mountain to climb in this knockout game.

Chelsea FC Blenheim had much of the play in the second half, as they threatened to score, with a tactical change Chelsea FC Blenheim to gain good momentum. Several half chances were created and the work rate to win the ball back was exceptional but kicking with the wind the team struggled with their range of pass and ultimately fell short.

Not the result Chelsea FC Blenheim wanted but a lot of positive elements to take from a game against a strong Barking Abbey Football education programme.

A big week awaits next week as we welcome St Joseph’s College to Blenheim for an English Schools' Super League quarter final.
