Posted on: 28/11/2023

Mechanical engineering is a field that is constantly evolving, with new technologies and innovations emerging every year. As a student preparing for future work, it is important to be aware of the latest trends in the field in order to stay ‘ahead of the curve’.

On Thursday, Year 12 students participated in an online live broadcast lecture in which they discovered different aspects of Mechanical Engineering, organised and run by Readycon.

The online talk comprised:

Opportunities in the Space Industry - Mechanical Engineering

Anisa Qureshi, Space Content Creator @ YouTube

Nano and Microtechnologies: Small Scale, Big Impact

Lindsay Hanson, Head of Nanotechnology Innovation @ Nicholas Kirkwood Ltd

Engineering the Future: Exploring the Intersection of Hardware, Robotics, and Labour

Brennon Williams, Founder & CEO @ Infinity-Metaverse

The Power of 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing

Dwight Mitchell, Owner @ Mitchell & Son 3D Printing Service

Here is what one of our students, Fraser in 12AN, thought of the talk:

During our Maths class, we participated in an online lecture focused on mechanical engineering. This session provided valuable insights into the mechanical engineering industry, covering topics such as nano materials and lunar mining. Exploring the potential pathways within engineering was intriguing, offering us valuable information to make informed decisions regarding employment, apprenticeships,or university degree choices.’
