Great Big Dance Off Competition

Posted on: 06/02/2024

On Tuesday 6th February, 35 students attended the Great Big Dance Off Competition, London

Regional Heats at The Beck Theatre in Hayes. Blenheim entered 3 teams; KS3 (Year 8 & 9), KS4

(Year 10) and KS5 (Year 12 & 13). All students performed phenomenally well and it was wonderful

to see students across different year groups supporting and encouraging each other. It truly was

a #teamblenheim day.

KS3 performed a contemporary routine called 'Pirates' which encompassed excellent acting skills

to embody the characteristics of traditional Pirates, taking inspiration from Pirates of the

Caribbean. KS4 performed an upbeat jazz routine called 'Why Don't You' which when combined

with their sequin costumes, really showed off their skills to the audience and judges. KS5

performed a powerful contemporary routine called 'Warriors' telling a story about how women

are stronger together. All 3 pieces wowed the audience and it was amazing to see our students

perform at such a high standard.

I'm very pleased to say that the KS3 team came 1st and are Regional Champions! They scored 164

marks out of 200 and were 6 marks ahead of 2nd place. They will now compete at the National

Finals in July. The KS5 team placed 2nd (by 1 mark) and will also be competing at the National

Finals! 18 schools entered the KS3 section and 21 schools entered the KS4/5 section, with our KS4

team finishing 13th.

I am beyond proud of all the students who competed. They showed true teamwork throughout

the day and were absolutely amazing. On to the next competition!
