Model United Nations Conference
Posted on: 30/09/2025Blenheim are sending eleven students to a Model United Nations Conference at Reigate Grammar School this Saturday. MUN is an exciting initiative which allows students to develop their debating skills through representing different countries in debate, in a format similar tothat of the UN.
The eleven students are split into two delegations representing the UK and Zimbabwe. Students will sit on various committees including, Social and Humanitarian, Economic and Finance and Environment. As the UK we also have a place on the UN Security Council and on the Historical Security Council, which looks at a crisis from History and debates the appropriate action as the UN Security Council from that era.
In an exciting development. Three Blenheim students successfully applied to chair committees this year. They are looking forward to developing their chairing skills in a larger scale environment. This is a really valuable opportunity and a great way to develop cultural capital.
The delegates will work with students from several other schools to consider resolutions. Our delegates are all studying their briefing papers in advance to understand the issues under discussion and researching their country’s position on these issues ready for negotiations. We look forward to collaborating with others and developing knowledge, teamwork and public speaking skills. More news to follow after the conference!
