As the Christmas season approached, students from our school set out to spread joy beyond the classroom—and they did exactly that during their heart-warming visit to Appleby Care Home in Epsom on Tuesday 9th December. Their festive performances were nothing short of a triumph, filling the home with laughter, music, and the unmistakable magic of Christmas.

The students presented a series of short performances; each built around a festive theme. From cheerful plots and humorous characters to thoughtful messages about the true meaning of Christmas and a jolly carol to end on, the trip offered something for everyone. Their enthusiasm, confidence, and genuine warmth shone through every moment, making them true ambassadors for the school.

Residents were not just spectators—they were active participants. Many joined in with the singing, clapped along, and shared positive feedback to the students. Laughter echoed through the room as students delivered light-hearted scenes, and quiet moments of reflection emerged as carols stirred long-held memories. The intergenerational connection was instantly visible and deeply touching.

Staff at the care home remarked on how uplifting the afternoon had been for residents, many of whom continued reminiscing long after the final performance had ended. They expressed sincere gratitude for the students’ hard work and the joy they brought with them.

The success of the event is a testament to the students’ dedication, creativity, and kindness. They represented the school with pride and maturity, showing how powerful simple acts of giving can be especially at Christmastime.

As the festive season continues, this visit stands as a reminder of the importance of community, compassion, and coming together to share moments of joy. The students left the care home with smiling faces and full hearts, having truly made a difference—and having made this Christmas just a little bit brighter for everyone involved.

The Drama Department would like to wish you all a merry Christmas, and a healthy and happy New Year.
