Year 7 & 8 Girls Basketball Tournament
Posted on: 22/01/2026Congratulations to the U13 Girls Basketball Team who participated in the Surrey Schools’
Basketball Tournament. For many of the team this was their first experience of competitive
Basketball and I am very proud of them for their hard work, sportswomenship and for the team
spirit shown throughout the tournament.
Blenheim 6 - George Abbot 16
A fast and furious first match. Blenheim soon settled into the high intensity of the game and used
their speed and agility to dribble the ball up the court with many attempts at the basket. Defence
and positioning themselves on the basket side of their opposition helped to thwart the offence
on many attacking plays, but we couldn't outscore George Abbot.

Blenheim 4 - Salesians 6
A very close match. With nerves settled and a greater team dynamic, Blenheim's confidence grew
throughout the match. Improved positional play and use of longer passes aided players in space.
Much of the play was in the mid court with a game that could have gone either way. A very close
match indeed.
MVP: Bella B
Blenheim 6 - Chessington 4
With the scores as tight as could be going into the final match of the pool competition, Blenheim
had a renewed focus and determination to keep the shots on target. Excellent defence from both
teams kept the score line low until Molly's final shot of the game scoring 2 points to put Blenheim
in the lead and through to the overall tournaments third place play off match.
MVP: Molly
Blenheim 2 - Woking 10
The final match of the tournament was the third place play off. Blenheim started very strong and
used the width of the court to help spread the play. Some hesitation from Blenheim meant that
the ball was stolen in a rip and defence out of position with Woking taking advantage of some
free baskets. Blenheim showed resilience and did not give up until the final whistle. Well done.
