Year 7 & 8 Girls' Football Tournament

Posted on: 06/10/2022

The year 7 and 8 Girls had a Football tournament at Three Rivers Academy this week which was really well attended by local schools with most bringing an A and a B team; a real advert for Girls’ Football. The competition was split into two leagues, A and B. The Blenheim A team lost their first match against Ashcombe but managed to hold Esher to a 0-0 draw in their next match. This could easily have been a Blenheim win if the ball hadn’t been so determined to hit the cross bar! Blenheim won their next two matches against Rosebery and Epsom and Ewell with goals from Leah and Olivia.

The B team for Blenheim worked really hard throughout the tournament and had some excellent opportunities at goal from Tilly but unfortunately only one opportunity was capitalised on. This was against Three Rivers Academy with the final score being a 2-1 defeat. As it was their first time playing together, the girls showed excellent resilience and determination. With some more training sessions, it is clear that the girls have the potential to continue to develop impressively.
