37 students across years 8, 9 and 10 proudly represented Blenheim in the Central Surrey Schools’ Sports Association Athletics District Sports event on 14 May at David Weir Fitness and Athletic Centre (formally Kingsmeadow). The day was organised into track and field events with heats in the morning followed by finals in the afternoon for Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Intermediate Girls and Intermediate Boys.

Blenheim got off to an excellent start with three of the four relay teams achieving 2nd and 3rd places in their heats and qualifying for the relay finals later in the afternoon. There then followed a sterling effort from Blenheim in the 1500m and 800m with points scored for placings and qualification for the final assured. Congratulations to Bella who comfortably won the 800m. Next to the sprint events with 100m, 300m and 200m heats where by Millie won her heat and progressed through to the 200m final and subsequently won it. Congratulations Millie.

The relay finals were set for extremely fast times and Blenheim held their own. They were steadfast in their approach although unfortunately they did not medal in the finals. Field events rotated through the age groups throughout the day with excellent effort and determination from all Blenheim athletes.

Congratulations to Bella (800m), Millie (200m) and Archie (1500m) who have been selected to represent Surrey at the Regional Schools’ Championships on Saturday 13 June. We wish them the very best for the next level of competition.
